Britains for Gamages, Colour Party
of the Grenadier Guards in Service Dress (1940/41 only), 9 pieces including mounted officer in green greatcoats and steel helmets; Very good, box good, repaired, but tie card does not match contents. This lot was acquired via a well known English auction house, where they were described as Britains "Specials", in many cases supplied through Gamages. There is no compelling evidence that Gamages ever produced such special orders. There is no doubt that they are one off special commissions, but the identity of the maker/ painter remains unconfirmed.
