Gamages, Life Guards and Horse Guards
Winter Service Dress (Cloaks & Steel Helmets) 10 pieces, with rare Life Guard Officer’s Edward VIII badge (withdrawn within weeks of issue due to the abdication) & a Royal Horse Guard Trooper’s George V Collar badge; Very good, box very good, label on lid stained. This lot was acquired via a well known English auction house, where they were described as Britains "Specials", in many cases supplied through Gamages. There is no compelling evidence that Gamages ever produced such special orders. There is no doubt that they are one off special commissions, but the identity of the maker/ painter remains unconfirmed.
