Gamages, U.S. Cavalry in side caps
and service dress, including Colour Bearer and trumpeter, privately commissioned set, 7 pieces; Very good, box very good. This lot was acquired via a well known English auction house, where they were described as Britains "Specials", in many cases supplied through Gamages. There is no compelling evidence that Gamages ever produced such special orders. There is no doubt that they are one off special commissions, but the identity of the maker/ painter remains unconfirmed.
