Gamages, Battle of San Quentin
Charge of the Scots Greys & Black Watch against Prussian Lancers and infantry, August 28th 1914, converted from various Britains figures, in a two layered wooden box, with relevant medals attached; Very good, 2 heads loose, one sword detached, one base detached, box good. This lot was acquired via a well known English auction house, where they were described as Britains "Specials", in many cases supplied through Gamages. There is no compelling evidence that Gamages ever produced such special orders. There is no doubt that they are one off special commissions, but the identity of the maker/ painter remains unconfirmed.
