Don Troiani Watercolor New York Volunteer 1863 An Original Don Troiani Watercolor Painting measuring 12 by 9 Inches. Entitled @Param0Private- 165th New York Volunteers@Param1. Signed D. Troiani SAHA @Param282. Originally purchased from the May Gallery in Jackson, Wyoming for $600. On Reverse is a letter from Don Troiani describing Private 165th New York Volunteers (2nd Battalion Duryea Zouaves). This study depicts a member of the 165th New York Volunteers as they appeared at the siege of Port Hudson in 1863. The soldiers of this regiment were dressed in the classic Zouave Uniform, and maintained this dress throughout the war. The regiment saw active service in the Gulf Area during the War but won everlasting fame for their part in the desperate assault on Port Hudson. His arms consisted of the Model 1863 Rifled Musket with Bayonet. This study was based on original specimens in an artist@Param3s private own collection and at the WestPoint Museum. Additional information was obtained from the @Param4History of Duryea Zouaves@Param5 N.Y. 1905. Framed 19 by 16 Inches. Condition Near Mint and beautifully framed. |

Don Troiani Watercolor Union Infantryman 1863 A wonderful Original Watercolor Painted by Don Troiani depicting a Union Infantryman 1863. Measures 10 by 7 Inches. Originally purchased from the May Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona for $700. Signed @Param0Don Troiani SAHA @Param184@Param2. Accompanying signed letter on reverse @Param3Union Infantryman 1863@Param4. This study depicts a Union private during the time of the Gettysburg campaign. The soldier portrayed is wearing the regulation infantry blue trimmed frock coat and sky blue kersey woolen trousers. His forage cap bears a red St. Andrews cross indicating he is a member of the 1st Division of the 6th Army Corps. This hard-fighting corpsman saw some action on the third day at Gettysburg. His arm consists of a model 1861 rifled musket with bayonet. He wears a regulation soft tarred knapsack with a blanket rolled in a rubberized blanket strapped on the top. In addition, he is equipped with a round tin canteen with cup and a tarred haversack. His socks are rolled over the trouser bottoms to keep out the dust. The items shown here were based on the originals in the artist@Param5s own collection. Framed 19 3/4 by 16 Inches. Condition Near Mint and nicely framed. |

Don Troiani Watercolor Confederate Infantryman An Original Don Troiani Watercolor Painting depicting Confederate Infantryman, 1864. Signed @Param0Don Troiani SAHA @Param184@Param2. Measures 10 by 7 Inches. Originally purchased from the May Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona for $700. Signed Troiani letter on reverse, @Param3Confederate Infantryman 1864@Param4. This study shows a typical Confederate private of the Army of Tennessee in 1863. He is dressed in a government issue gray jean-cloth jacket and forage cap. His trousers are captured Federal sky blue kersey. The waist belt is black leather with a copper brass rectangular CSA belt plate. The blanket rolled over his shoulder is wrapped in a Federal issue gum blanket. The rifle in which the soldier is ramming down a charge is an imported model 1853 Enfield. A large portion of the Confederate army was furnished with these excellent weapons. The uniforms and equipment shown here were based on originals in the Museum of the Confederacy and the artist@Param5s own collection. Framed size 19 3/4 by 16 Inches.
